They are indeed.
And TG2 is also incredibly fast if the settings aren't pumped up too much. It took me only 14 hours on my Q6600 (@ 3.2 GHz) to render it in 3600x2400 px.

Hehe, good ol' times I used to render stuff in Terragen using a K6-2 266MHz, an exercise of patience. Hours for a 800x600 render. =P

The sky consists of one, thick cumulus layer limited by a distance shader. The hight contrast is due to post-processing: level and saturation adjustments together with tone mapping the .exr file.

Lol sounds good..... I just picked up TG2 so that was all over my head. Oh well, I'll learn it all soon.
